ortsbezeichnet „Roma“.
Blick in den Innenraum eines antik-römischen Hauses mit pompejanischer Wandmalerei, einer gesockelten Marmorfigur, mehreren griechisch-attischen Vasen sowie einem Mosaikpaviment. Rechts im Hintergrund eine Marmorkonsole, getragen von zwei Löwenbeinen. Darauf weitere griechisch-antike Vase sowie ein Candelabrum. Links im Bild Ausblick in das Atrium mit ionischen Säulen und einem blühenden Strauch. Hauptgegenstand der Darstellung sind zwei Damen, die turtelnden Tauben zusehen: Eine in einem antikischen Schaukelstuhl sitzend, die Begleiterin stehend. Im Freien hinter dem Vorhang weitere weiße Tauben im Flug sichtbar. Feine, detailreiche Malerei im typischen Stil der italienischen Malerei des 19. Jahrhunderts in fein empfundener Antiken-Rezeption, die auf die Ausgrabungen in Pompeij zurückgeht. (710671)
