Anmerkung:
Belisar, 505-565, war ein byzantinischer General thrakischer Herkunft und Feldherr des Kaisers Justinian I. Er war ein sehr erfolgreicher Feldherr, doch während seines zweiten Italienfeldzuges, 544 - 548, verließ ihn sein Glück und Talent. Das Belisar-Epos überliefert die Legende, der Feldherr sei als blinder Bettler gestorben.
