Inmitten einer lichtdurchfluteten sommerlichen Landschaft eine Lichtung mit nah an den Betrachter gerückter Darstellung von Venus und Amor, der seine Waffen ihr zu Füßen gelegt hat. Sowohl Malweise als auch Restsignatur lassen auf eine Nähe zu François le Moyne (1688-1737) schließen, von dem ein Gemälde mit Badenden, das in seiner Komposition unserem Werk ähnelt, am 21.05.1992 bei Christie's in New York zu umgerechnet Euro 346.822 versteigert werden konnte. Remains of a signature lower left.
Both the painting style and the remains of a signature suggest a proximity to François le Moyne (1633-1737), whose compositionally similar painting of bathers was auctioned at Christie's in New York on 21 May 1992, for the equivalent of Euro 346,822.
