Hinter Glas in versilbertem gekehlten Rahmen.

Die strenge stilisierte Auffassung des Kopfes deutet darauf hin, dass Campendonk hier kein konkretes Portrait zeigt. Gern bezeichnete die zeitgenössische Kunstkritik sein Werk dieser Zeit als „mystisch“, „lyrisch“ und „zeitlos“, welches bereits weniger polychrom wurde und überleitete in die zunehmend monochromen Bilder der Jahre 1919-1922, welche in Seeshaupt entstanden. Dorthin zog es Campendonk, als er – vom Tod seines Freundes Franz Marc (1880-1916) übermannt – von Sindelshaupt fortging. In Seeshaupt empfing er oft Paul Klee (1879-1940), welcher in München wohnte, oder besuchte ihn dort oder in Possenhofen, wo Klee oft weilte.
Darstellung eines Bruststückes einer Frau mit zu ihrem Kinn geführter Hand, vor dunklem Hintergrund und links danebenstehender ganzfiguriger Frau, welche am Bildrand angeschnitten ist. Links zwei kleine Farbverluste.

The strict stylized design of the head suggests that Campendonk is not portraying anyone in particular. Contemporary art critics described his work as “mystical“, “lyrical“ and “timeless“. Two areas with minor paint chips.
