Dämmerungsansicht eines Hafenbeckens, welches mittels der horizonal verlaufenden Kaimauer in mehrere waagerechte Linien gegliedert ist und durch einen Dreimaster, der im Hafenbecken liegt, wiederum vertikal durchbrochen wird. Seine Masten strecken sich schlank gegen den Himmel und erfahren im ruhigen Hafengewässer eine Spiegelung, welche die Vertikalen im Bild betonen. Die Kaimauer wird hinterfangen durch Wohn- bzw. Hafenkontorgebäude, welche auf der rechten Bildhälfte durchbrochen sind und so den Durchblick zur Sonne erlauben, die durch die morgendlichen Wolken hervorlugt.
