Auf einem sandigen Weg, der zum alten Gatter eines dahinterliegenden Hofes führt, zwei Kinder, die an einem Seil zwei kleine Esel mit sich führen. Ein kleiner schwarz-weißer Hund begleitet sie dabei. Das größere Mädchen mit rosafarbenem Kopftuch schaut Abschied nehmend zu ihrem am Gatter stehenden Vater zurück. Ihre Schürze hat sie mit den Händen leicht nach oben gerafft, so als würde sie darin etwas transportieren. Ihr vor ihr laufender kleiner Bruder, mit altem Strohhut und rotem Halstuch, schaut aus dem Bild direkt heraus. Auf der grünen Wiese am Wegesrand einige Gänse, die ihnen aufgeregt zuschnattern. Stimmungsvolle Malerei in überwiegend beige-braunen und differenzierten Grüntönen. (11919417) (1) (18)
