Brustbildnis der Jungfrau Maria nach links. Sie trägt eine rötliches Gewand, darüber einen blauen Umhang. Ihr leicht gesenkter Kopf wird von einem goldgelben Leinentuch bedeckt. Ihr Gesicht mit feinem Inkarnat und geröteten Wangen ist etwas verschattet; ihr Blick wirkt leicht entrückt, denn sie scheint zu ahnen, was auf sie zukommen wird. Ihre rechte Hand hat sie voller Ergebenheit behutsam auf ihre Brust gelegt. Die Ikonographie zeigt die Gottesmutter "Maria Immacolata" immer stehend ohne Kind, meistens mit Mondsichel und ihr Haupt von einem Sternenkranz umgeben. So wird sie auch hier gezeigt: im dunkleren Hintergrund in hellerem Lichtschein der Sternenkranz und auch die Mondsichel ist wiedergegeben. Für den berühmten Künstler typisches Motiv.

Das Gemälde ist beschrieben und abgebildet im Katalog "Settecento Veneziano. Del Barroco al Neoclasicismo. S. 88 - 89." Kalalogkopie davon liegt vor.
Ein vergleichbares Ölgemälde des Künstlers der "Maria Immacolata", 41 x 30,6 cm, wurde im Juli 2000 bei Sotheby´s in London für 201.500,- Euro versteigert. (1171972)

A comparable oil painting by the artist, 41 x 30.6 cm, has been sold at Sotheby's London for 201.500,-- Euro in July 2000.
