Kress, New York (Inv. K1639) wiederfindet. (1160901) (13)

Giulio Carpioni,
1611 Venice – 1678 Vicenza

BACCHANAL

Oil on canvas.
250 x 365 cm.

Confirmed by Professor Claudio Strinati as a work by Carpioni.

Notes:
There are further bacchanal depictions by the artist. The motif of the putto playing the tambourine and the motif of a woman leaning forward and drinking out of a bowl can also be found in a painting in a collection in Carrara (Fondazione Zeri, no. 56887). A motiveless cloth hanging in the landscape is also typical and can be seen in another bacchanal painting held at the collection of S.H. Kress, New York (inv. no. K1639).

This object has been individually compared to the information in the Art Loss Register data bank and is not registered there as stolen or missing.
