Großformatig in der Bildfläche vorgeführt vor nahezu türkisblauem Himmel im Hintergrund sowie zwei rechts hochziehenden Baumstämmen. Maria in kniender Haltung hält das Kind auf dem Schoß, das ängstlich auf den Betrachter herabblickt, die Hand an die Brust der Mutter geführt. Maria mit nachdenklichem Blick, über dem Haar ein marienblauen Haarbund, darüber ein rosafarbenes Kopftuch. Der heilige Joseph im Hintergrund frontal zum Betrachter hinter einer Brüstung stehend, die Arme auf die Brüstung gelegt, ebenfalls nachdenklich sinnend. Stilistisch zeigt sich das Gemälde vollkommen in der manieristischen Farbgebung mit aufleuchtenden, changierenden Rottönen, die scheinbar aus sich selbst herausleuchtend dem Bild Wirkung verleiht. Die stilistische Nähe zum Maler zu Andrea del Sato und den weiteren manieristischen Malern von Florenz und Rom sind augenscheinlich. Die Holzplatte leicht vertikal gewölbt. (1141131)
