Das Gemälde aus hochhöfischer Provenienz, zeigt das Halbbildnis eines Engels in ockergelbem Kleid, über den Arm ein rotes Tuch gelegt, der Blick gesenkt, hinter den Schultern ziehen seitlich gefiederte Flügel empor. Besch.
Provenienz:
Verso über Keilrahmen und Rahmen zwei alte bedruckte Aufkleber der Fideikomiss-Verwaltung des "Gesamthauses Braunschweig und Lüneburg", erfasst im Katalog der zur Fideikomiss-Galerie des Gesamthauses Braunschweig und Lüneburg gehörigen Sammlung von Gemälden und Skulpturen im Provinzial-Museum zu Hannover, "Fideikomiss Katalog Eisenmann".
Das königliche Museum wurde 1905 aufgelöst, wodurch das Gemälde in verschiedenen Privatbesitz gelangte. Das Gemälde ist im Katalog S. 157 unter der Nummer 552 bezeichnet "Ein Engel im gelben Gewande" mit Maßangaben, das Bild genannt unter der Rubrik "Unbekannt – 18. Jahrhundert."

Painter of the 18th century after the model of an Italian 17th century master
AN ANGEL IN YELLOW GARMENT

The painting, from a distinguished court provenance, shows an angel in half-portrait in ochre yellow dress with a red cloth draped over his arm. The angel gazes down and his feathered wings stand out sideways behind his shoulders. Damaged.
Provenance:
Across the stretcher and frame on the reverse two old printed labels by the entail administration of "Gesamthauses Braunschweig und Lüneburg", listed in the catalogue of the entail gallery of paintings and sculptures at the Provinzial Museum zu Hannover belonging to the Gesamthaus Braunschweig and Lüneburg "Entail catalogue Eisenmann".
The royal museum was closed in 1905 and many paintings sold into private collections. The painting is listed in the catalogue p. 157 under no. 552 described as "Ein Engel im gelben Gewande" [Angel in yellow dress] with dimensions, and listed under the caption "Unknown – 18th century."
