Le Sidaner war stark beeinflusst von den Farbtheorien und dem Pointillismus der Neo-Impressionisten. Wie besonders in diesem Gemälde deutlich wird, bewunderte Le Sidaner besonders den Stil von Eugène Carrière, dessen Technik er weiterentwickelte. Beider Maler Hauptaugenmerk war auf das Licht gerichtet, und wie man es auf die Leinwand bannt, um Objekten einen dreidimensionalen Effekt zu geben.
