Die Authentizität des Gemäldes wurde von Monique Le Pelley Forteny bestätigt.
Lhermitte war tief verwurzelt sowohl in der Schule von Barbizon als auch in der Kunst der französischen Realisten. Jedoch hebt er sich ab durch seine teils progressiven Techniken wie die Ausführung der Pastelle. Seine Lichtführung zeigt den Einfluss der Impressionisten in den Werken, welche nach 1900 entstanden sind. Seine zahlreichen Reisen in die Bretagne brachten seine Vorliebe für ländliche Darstellungen hervor.

Privatsammlung (von dem Sammler direkt beim Künstler erworben).
Wallis (im Februar 1902).
