Möglicherweise nimmt der Maler hier Bezug auf die biblische Geschichte vom wunderbaren Fischfang (Lukas 5, 1-11). Er versetzt die Geschichte in einen zeitgenössischen Kontext und ergänzt Szenen des täglichen Lebens an der Küste. Das Gemälde stammt wahrscheinlich von einem flämischen Maler, der Ende 16. Bzw. Anfang des 17. Jahrhunderts tätig war und über Kenntnisse der Italienischen, vor allem venezianischen Malerei verfügte. (1082201) (11)

Possibly the painter gives here a free representation of the evangelic narrative of the Miracolous catch (Luke, 5, 1-11) in a contemporary setting, enriched by some episodes of daily life in the coast. In this canvas we can recognize a Flemish painter active at the end of the 16th century or at the beginning of the next century, with a direct and updated knowledge of the Italian painting, mainly venetian.
