James Brown,
1951 Los Angeles
Lebt und arbeitet in Paris und Oaxaca, Mexiko. Brown studierte an der École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Auf Reisen durch Europa beschäftigte ihn vor allem die Kunst der Gotik und der Renaissance. 1983 stellte er mit Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988) und Keith Haring (1958-1990) in der Shafrazi Gallery in New York aus. Seine gestischen, abstrakten Werke zeigen Einflüsse regionaler Stammeskunst und der Klassischen Moderne.
