Anmerkung: 

Ein in Gelb- sowie Blau- und Violetttönen gestaltetes Aquarell , betitelt ’Lily‘, im Motiv identisch zu unserer Zeichnung, ist im Werkverzeichnis von Joosten (1998) unter der Inv.Nr. C119 aufgeführt (s. untere Farbabb., Shapiro 1991). Wie auch auf einem weiteren Aquarell Mondrians, eine weiße Calla darstellend (Joosten S. 476, C41, engl. ’Arum Lily‘), signierte der Künstler beide Aquarelle mit ’P. MONDRIAAN‘.
Dagegen ist auf zwei Holzkohlezeichnungen der Calla (Joosten 1998, C39 und C40), sowie auf der angebotenen Holzkohlezeichnung einer Lilie die Signatur ’P. MONDRIAN‘ bzw. ’PIET MONDRIAN‘ (C40), jeweils mit nur einem ’A‘, zu sehen.

Notes:
A watercolor titled ‘Lily’, in shades of yellow, blue and violet, shows an identical motif to our drawing and is listed in Joosten’s catalog raisonné (1998) under inv. no. C119 (see color illustration, Shapiro 1991). As in another watercolor by Mondrian, depicting a white calla (Joosten p. 476, C41, ‘Arum Lily’), the artist signed both watercolors with ‘P. MONDRIAAN’.
On the other hand the artist‘s signature with only one ‘A’, as in ‘P. MONDRIAN’ (C39) or ‘PIET MONDRIAN’ (C40), can be seen on two charcoal drawings of the calla as well as on the offered charcoal drawing of a lily.
