Istoriato-Schale auf Fuß

Über die gesamte Bildfläche ist der Kampf zwischen Rodomonte mit Ruggiero und anderen zu sehen. Rechts Zeltstadt mit Soldaten, links in der Ferne Stadt vor Bergen. In drei Teile gebrochen und rest. Auf Ober- und Unterseite diskrete Übermalungen entlang der Bruchkanten, möglicherweise weitere kleine Schäden verborgen, am Rand kleine Chips, teils rest. und Glasur stellenweise etwas abgeblättert.

Anmerkung:
Als ungewöhnliche, literarische Quelle diente eine Szene aus "Orlando Furioso" von Ludovico Ariost (1474 - 1533). Die Inschrift besagt, dass es sich um den 27. Gesang handelt. In der ersten illustrierten Ausgabe von Gabriel Iolito, Venedig, 1542, wurde diese Szene mit einem Holzschnitt illustriert.

The entire surface is decorated with a scene of the fight between Rodomonte and Ruggiero and others. There is a camp with soldiers to the right and in the background to the left lies a city in front of a mountain backdrop. Broken in three parts and restored. Subtle overpainting along the cracks on the top and underneath, further minor damage may be hidden, small chips along the rim and glazing chipped in some places.

Notes:
A scene from Orlando Furioso by Ludovico Ariosto (1474 - 1533) served as an unusual literary reference for this piece. The inscription indictaes that it illustrates the 27th canto. The first illustrated edition by Gabriel Iolito, Venice in 1542 illustrated the same scene in a woodcut.
