Majolika-Krug mit Istoriato-Bemalung

Henkelkrug auf Fußring mit weich geformtem Ausguss. Über die gesamte Wandung wurde der Krug mit Istoriato-Bemalung dekoriert. Diese zeigt auf der Front einen Bacchanten auf einem Weinfass sitzend, mit einem Kelch in der einen und dunklen Trauben in der anderen Hand. Ein auf dem Boden lagernder Jüngling füllt sich aus dem Fass eine Kanne. Von rechts naht eine Schäferin in kurzem Rock, begleitet von einem Hund. Sie hält ein kleines Fass in Händen. Links thront eine weibliche Gestalt auf Felsen. Das antikisierende Gewand und die Blätterkrone lassen vermuten, dass es sich wohl um Ceres handelt. Im Hintergrund erstreckt sich eine Landschaft mit kleinen Stadtansichten in der Ferne. Der Himmel ist in abendliche Farben getaucht. Die Malerei in lockerem und sicherem Duktus. Bemalung in Blau, Gelb, Orange, Grün, Mangan und Braun. Brandschäden in der Glasur. Abplatzung hinten am Fuß, Bruchrest. (9300024)

Jar with handle and foot ring and smooth spout. Whole exterior surface of the jar covered in Istoriato painting. The front depicts a bacchant sitting on a wine barrel with a goblet in one hand and dark grapes in the other. A young man, reclining on the ground, is filling a jug from the barrel. A shepherdess wearing a short skirt approaches from the right, accompanied by a dog and holding a small barrel in her hands. To the left, a female is enthroned in a rock. From the antiquity of her attire and her crown made from leaves, we might assume that she is Ceres. A landscape with small townscapes in the background with the sky tinted in evening colours. The painting is carried out in casual, confident brushstrokes. Painted in blue, yellow, orange, green, manganese and brown. Firing defects in the glazing. Chips at the back of the base and crack restoration.
