Großer Majolika-Platte aus der Werkstatt von Carlantonio Grue

Die Fahne zieren Arabeskenranken und Blüten, die je von einem feinen Dekorband in Gelb gerahmt sind. Im Scheitel ist ein Kardinalswappen zu sehen, das dem der Familie Mafii oder einem vereinfachten Corsini-Wappen ähnelt. Im Spiegel ist der Triumph der Amphitrite dargestellt. Um Amphitrite gruppieren sich verschiedene Nymphen, sie breitet ihre Arme aus und reckt sich empor zu zwei herbeieilenden Amoretten, einer hält Siegeskränze, der andere schießt einen Pfeil ab. Links ist ein gewaltiger Triton zu sehen, mehrere Bewohner der Seewelt sind im Wasser verstreut gezeigt, von recht nähert sich ein weiterer auf zwei Wasserwesen reitender Meeresgott. An der fernen Küste stehen die Drei Grazien und blicken zu der Szene. Auf der Landzunge sind mehrere Gebäude, darunter ein gewölbter Tempel zu sehen sowie im Meer vor der Küste drei Schiffe. Bemalung in Blau, Gelb, Rot, Mangan und Grün. Guter Zustand.

Anmerkung:
Die literarische Grundlage bilden Ovids Metamorphosen, nach welchen Neptun sich in die Nymphe verliebte, diese sich ihm aber entzog. Er sendete daraufhin einen Delfin, dem es gelang, ihre Liebe zu gewinnen. (9300083)

The border is decorated with arabesques and flowers, each enclosed by a fine yellow ribbon. The top centre of the border depicts a cardinal's coat of arms, similar to the arms of the Mafii family or like a simpler version of the Corsini coat of arms. The centre depicts the Triumph of Amphitrite. Amphitrite is surrounded by Nymphs, with her arms stretched out she reaches up to two Cupids hurrying towards her. One of the Cupids holds Victor's laurels, the other fires an arrow. To the left a mighty Triton and sea creatures are scattered in the water, another sea god approaches from the right riding on two sea creatures. The Three Graces stand on a distant shore looking onto the scene. The headland is depicted with several buildings including a domed temple and three ships near the shore at sea. Painted in blue, yellow, red, manganese and green. Good condition.

Notes:
The literary source for this scene is Ovid's Metamorphoses. According to legend, Neptune falls in love with a Nymph, but not returning his love, she runs away from him. Consequently, he sends a dolphin, who is able to win her love for him.
