Giancarlo Sestieri hingegen stellt heraus, dass es sich bei dem vorliegenden Werk um eine autografe Version Paninis, also um ein eigenhändiges Werk des genannten Künstlers handelt.

Diese vielschichtige in die Tiefe gestaffelte Komposition bietet eine reichhaltiger Schau historischer Architekturen: links eine ionische Ruine, ein ägypto-römischer Obelisk, kannelierte Säulenstümpfe, eine Darstellung des Reiterstandbildes des Kaisers Marcus Aurelius von der Piazza del Campodoglio, eine Rundbogenarkade, ein Relief mit römischen Trophäen, eine römische Ruine mit darinstehender Standfigur, eine große Farnese-Vase, der Porticus des Pantheon, eine Apollo Statue (aus der Villa Medici, daraufhin in Florenz).
