Zwei rundplastische Steinfiguren Heiliger Bischöfe

Zusammengehörig aus einheitlichem Ausstattungszusammenhang. Jeweils Standfiguren in langen Chormänteln, auf mitgerabeiteter Plinthe stehend. Kontrapost durch rechts- bzw. links leicht vorgestelltes Knie unter dem Mantel. Die Mitren einheitlich gestaltet, die Attribute unterschiedlich, wie Buch bzw. Gefäß. In der rechten bzw. linken Hand ehemals ein Stab, die Finger ausgebrochen. Komposition und Aufbau weisen darauf hin, dass die beiden Figuren rechts und links eines Zentrums aufgestellt waren. Die Gesichter in hoher Qualität lebensnah ausgeführt. Beige-grauer Sandstein, hinten kursorisch gestockt. Ohne Fassung. (11200521) (11)


Two three-dimensional stone sculptures of holy bishops

Height: 97 cm each.
Burgundy, 15th/ early 16th century.

Companion pieces created for a uniform matching interior. Each depicted as a standing figure in long copes, with the plinths worked from one piece respectively. Composition and structure suggest that the sculptures where originally placed to the right and left of a central artwork. Their faces are executed in high quality and are very naturalistic. Greyish-beige sandstone, executed in cursory style on the reverse. Without polychromy.
