Großes, breitformatiges Gemälde mit Blick über das weite Uferwasser hinweg auf die heranziehenden Schiffe der russischen Kriegsflotte mit reichem Flaggenschmuck und Rauchfahne der Salutschüsse. Rechts die damals hochmoderne, dreimastige, königliche Yacht "Poljamaja Zwezda" (Polarstern) begleitet von der französischen Schwadron. Es war bei diesem Anlass, dass der Zar mit Präsident Félix Faure einen geheimen Beistandspakt schloss, sich bei einem eventuellen, militärischen Schlag gegen einen der Bündnispartner gegenseitig zu Hilfe zu eilen.
