Der italienische Futurist erhielt seine künstlerische Ausbildung in Rovereto bevor er 1913 nach Rom zog. Dort wurde er mit den Futuristen Giacomo Balla und Umberto Boccioni bekannt, in deren Kreis er 1915 aufgenommen wurde. 1919 eröffnete er in Rovereto ein futuristisches Kunsthaus und 1959 das erste futuristische Museum Galleria Museo Depero.

Hinter Glas gerahmt.
Über die gesamte Blatthöhe ist die Gestalt des Predigers zu sehen. Er ist sitzend wiedergegeben, wobei das Sitzmöbel nicht zu sehen ist. Mit einer Hand stützt er sich auf einen kleinen Kubus rechts auf. Der lange, weite Mantel und das Gesicht sind in der für die Futuristen charakteristischen abstrahierenden Manier wiedergeben. Die Schattierungen in Ocker spielen auf den Wüsten-Kontext an. Die Zeichnung ist mit einem Raster zur Übertragung in ein größeres Format unterlegt. Mittig eine Falte sowie kleine Unebenheiten in der unteren Hälfte.
