Kleiner, birnenförmiger Henkelkrug mit breitem Henkel. Die spätgotische, geometrische Bemalung teilt die Wandung in vier Register. Diese sind bemalt mit alternierend blauen Rauten und Dreiecken auf der Spitze stehend. Feine Linien formen Rahmen um die Muster. Die Bemalung in Blau und Mangan auf cremeweißem Fond. Bruchrest., vorne Brandfehler in der Glasur, Chip an Fuß und Henkel.

Small, late Gothic maiolica jug
Height: 14.5 cm.
Width: 12.5 cm.
Depth: 13.5 cm.
Workshop of Siena, circa 1450.

Small, pear-shaped jug with broad handle. Late Gothic, geometrical panels divide the body into four parts. Each part is painted with alternating blue diamonds and triangles standing on their points. The patterns are outlined by fine lines. Painted in blue and manganese on a crème white ground. Restored crack, firing defects in glazing at the front, chip on base and handle.
