Majolika-Teller aus der Werkstatt des Carlantonio Grue (1655 Castelli - 1723)

Großer Teller mit breiter Fahne. Die Fahne mit Akanthus-Blattranken, Putti und einer Blattmaske unten mittig. Im Scheitel der Fahne ist ein ritterliches Wappen mit drei Sternen und einer liegenden Mondsichel zu sehen. Den Spiegel schmückt eine Istoriato-Malerei mit der Darstellung eines müden Vulkan, dem Venus liebevoll über das Haupt streicht. Zwei Amoretten sind Vulkan beigesellt, der eine stützt ihn, der Andere weist zu ihm. Auf dem weißen Fond Bemalung in Gelb, Grün, Schwarz. Guter Zustand. Rep.

Anmerkung:
Das Wappen gleicht dem der Familie Lunetti, die in Bergamo ansässig war bzw. dem der Familien Amrhyn, Sannini & Sannini (di Pescia) aus Florenz oder der Alinei.

Der vorliegende Teller scheint damit aus dem Service zu stammen, von dem sich zwei Teller in der Eremitage in St. Petersburg erhalten haben. (9300051)

Large plate with broad border. The border decorated with acanthus ornament and putti as well as a foliage mask at centre bottom and chivalric arms with three stars and a horizontal crescent moon at centre top. The centre with Istoriato painting depicts Venus tenderly stroking the head of a tired-looking Vulcan. Two cupids alongside Vulcan, one supports him, the other points at him. Painted in yellow, green, black on a white ground. Good condition. Repaired.

Notes:
the coat of arms shows similarities with that of the Lunetti family from Bergamo or the Amrhyn, Sannini & Sannini (di Pescia) families from Florence or alternatively the arms of the Alinei family.

The catalogue attributes the work to Candeloro Cappelletti (1689 - 1772), an apprentice and nephew of Carlantonio Grue. The present dish seems therefore to be part of a dinner service of which two dishes have survived at the Hermitage in St Petersburg.
