Blick von höher gelegenem Standpunkt über blühende Obstbäume hinweg, unter denen Frauen die Wäsche zum Trocknen aufhängen, bis hin zum rauchenden Vesuv, dazwischen die zum Meerbusen herabziehende Stadt im Sonnenlicht. Links ein Pinienbaum als Repoussoir. Bild gibt den Blick nach Süden frei, eine leichte Brise lässt die Wolken und den Rauch des Vesuvs nach links abziehen, helle, frühlingshafte Lichtstimmung, in der die Gebäude hell aufleuchten. Der Vordergrund mit den rosa blühenden, jungen Obstbäumen und den Wäscherinnen in durchlichteter Beleuchtung und feiner Wiedergabe des Sujets.
