Straub erhielt seine Ausbildung 1726 bis 1734 in Wien und war danach Hofbildhauer in München. Neben seinem Schüler Ignaz Günther gilt er als bedeutendster Meister des Rokoko in München und Oberbayern. Diese Engelsfigur ist Straub zuschreibbar.
