Über das flache, gelb-grüne, mit Schilf bewachsene Ufer hinweg fällt der Blick auf den breiten, fließenden Fluss, in dem sich die bereits gelb-orange, herbstlich verfärbten Bäume der anderen Uferseite und der hohe wolkenlose hellblaue Himmel widerspiegeln. Harmonische Darstellung in postimpressionistischer Manier.
Der Künstler studierte an der École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. 1908 war er Mitbegründer der Société Moderne, zu deren Mitglieder u. a. Henri Baptiste Lebasque (1865-1937) und Maurice Chabas (1862-1947) gehörten. Bekannt ist er für seine Landschaften und Dorfszenen.
