Unter hohem bewölkten Himmel, der nach rechts aufklart, die gegen die hohen Wellen kämpfenden Segelschiffe, darunter eine prachtvolle Fregatte mit roten gesetzten Segeln, des Weiteren zwei Schiffe mit blau-weißen und rot-weißen Flaggen und geblähten Segeln. Linksseitig ein großes Felsenstück mit daraufstehenden Ruinenresten. Atmosphärisch dramatische Schilderung der gegen die aufpeitschenden gischtigen Wellen kämpfenden Schiffe, darunter auch von Möwen umkreisende kleinere Boote im Vordergrund. Malerei mit gekonnter Hell-Dunkel-Inszenierung in der typischen Manier des Künstlers. Rest., Retuschen. (1290525) (18)
