Im Leben des Volkes der Bamana in südöstlichen Mali am Flusslauf des Niger waren Kulte in Bezug auf die Landwirtschaft und Initiationskulte von höchster Bedeutung. Solche Initiationsbünde- und stufen sind Komo, N’domo, Tyi Wara, Nama und Kore. Die Masken zeichnen sich aus durch ihre geometrische Auffassung der Gesichtsform von Tierköpfen, wie hier eindrücklich zu sehen ist.

Provenienz:
Laut Angaben des Einlieferers erworben 09. Dezember 2006 für CHF 14.580.
