Beigegeben Expertise von Martin Dieterle, New York 1997 in Kopie sowie Bestätigung Claire Lebeau.
Das hier angebotene Gemälde enstand ungefähr 1855 - 1860 in der Nähe von Isigny in der Normandie in Zusammenarbeit von Corot mit seinem Freund und Assistenten Oudinot. Es diente als Studie zu dem Gemälde „La Bacchante“, welches im Salon 1865 (Robaut, Nr. 1635) ausgestellt war. Das vorliegende Gemälde zeigt sich ganz naturalistisch wie die plein air Gemälde eines Courbet, eines frühen Pissaro, eines Monet oder Sisley. Neben diesem hier angebotenen Gemälde existiert eine weitere Version mit den Maßen 55,5 x 42 cm. (†)
