Frühe Ausgabe des Decretum in einem prachtvollen Scholiendruck auf kräftigem, breitrandigem Papier, durchgehend rubriziert, mit zahlreichen eingemalten Lombarden in Rot oder Blau sowie floral verzierten Initialen. Das um 1140 entstandene Decretum ist das Hauptwerk des als Vater der Kanonistik geltenden Kamaldulensermönchs Gratian. Es enthält den in sich abgeschlossenen ersten Teil der sechs Rechtsbücher, die zusammen das Corpus Iuris Canonici bilden. Der Text folgt der Jenson-Ausgabe von 1477, mit Kommentaren von Johannes Teutonicus und Bartholomaeus Brixiensis, ferner mit dem beigedruckten Flosculum Decreti von Johannes de Deo Hispanus, herausgegegen von Petrus Albignanus Trecius und mit Beigaben von Bartholomaeus Puteus. In einem eindrucksvollen spätgotischen Schweinslederband über Holzdeckeln mit ornamentaler Prägung. – Ohne Batt a2 und das letzte weiße Blatt. – Zu Beginn teils mit schmalen Wasserrändern, erste Blätter in den Rändern etwas angestaubt, erstes Blatt (verso mit Vorrede) etwas fleckig und mit hinterlegten Randläsuren. Einband restauriert und mit Ergänzungen, Vorsätze erneuert. Innen sauber und breitrandig. Insgesamt schönes Exemplar mit bedeutender Provenienz: aus der Bibliothek des Heraldikers, Typographen und grossen Sammlers alter Drucke Otto Hupp (1859- 1949), mit dessen Exlibris im Innendeckel.
