Vor dunklem Hintergrund Brustbildnis eines Mannes nach rechts, in rötlichem Gewand mit langem Vollbart und einem sorgsam gebundenen, glänzenden weißen Turban mit vereinzelt rot-blauen und goldenen Streifen. Er hat eine große Nase, buschige Augenbrauen und mit seinen dunklen Augen schaut er nachdenklich, leicht nach unten in die Ferne. Feine Malerei bei starkem Hell-Dunkel-Kontrast. Leinwand vereinzelt mit Rissen, verso kleine Unterlegungen.
Der Künstler war ein französischer Portrait- und Historienmaler. Bekannt wurde er insbesondere für seine Portraits von Napoleon und Joséphine; aufgrund seines Portraits von Ludwig XVIII wurde er zum Hofmaler ernannt. (1220871) (3) (18)
