Diese wunderbare Komposition ist uns aus einer weiteren Version aus dem Louvre (inv. 661) bekannt. Diese ist etwas kleiner, wird ca. auf 1610 – 1612 datiert und unterscheidet sich auch durch ein Trompe-l’oeil im Hintergrund oben links. Schedoni versteht es, das hier angebotene Gemälde geschickt zu beleuchten. Da die Lichtquelle oben links gedacht werden muss, wird Joseph entsprechend seiner Bedeutung sanft verschattet, Maria und Jesus hingegeben erfahren umfangreiche Beleuchtung, sodass ihre Kleidung in kunstfertiger Draperie erscheint und die aus dem Bildraum herausgedrehte Figur des Jesus besonders naturalistisch wirkt.

Accompanied by the copy of an expert's report by Emilio Negro, Bologna.
This wonderful composition is also known from a further version held at the Louvre (inv. no. 661), which has smaller dimensions, dates to ca. 1610-1612 and furthermore features a trompe l’oeil in the background on the top left.
