Der Künstler war ein französischer Postimpressionist, der von Claude Monet (1840-1926) beeinflusst wurde.  

Aus einem weitgehend verdunkelten Waldweg führt von Lichtung zu Lichtung ein Weg, auf welchem mehrere berittene Pferde zu sehen sind- ein weißer Hund sprengt voran. Der Maler scheint das Ziel der Reisenden zu markieren, werden doch im rechten Vordergrund mehrere Gartenstühle und eine Frau mit zwei Kindern gezeigt, an deren niedrigem Gartenzaun die Reiter halt zu machen scheinen. Alleen in fröhlichen Farben sind typisch für Montezin und der Kontrastreichtum unseres Gemäldes stellt in dieser Werkgruppe eine Besonderheit dar. (†)

Eine rückwärtige Aufschrift lässt auf ein New Yorker Auktionshaus schließen "N.Y. 3601". (12011839) (13)

The artist was a French Post-Impressionist influenced by Claude Monet (1840-1926).

Provenance:
Inscription on the reverse suggests a New York auction house “N.Y. 3601”.
