(11720711) (13)

SAINT MARGARET OF ANTIOCH

The composition of the landscape and figures in the painting on offer for sale in this lot are reminiscent of Annibale Carraci’s Noli Me Tangere painting, listed at the Fondazione Zeri with no. 56086 as well as a Saint John the Baptist depiction held at the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota, Florida, which is also attributed to the School of Carracci. Finally it is also similar to a mirror-inverted depiction of Saint Sebastian held at Fondazione Zeri with no. 53717.
