Im Mittelpunkt eine junge Frau in rot-blauem Gewand auf einem Pferd, die mit ihrer linken Hand ein kleines Kind festhält. Sie bekommt von einem berittenen Mann mit ockergelbem Turban den Weg zu einem in der Ferne liegenden Ort gezeigt. Umgeben werden beide von einer Kuh und einer vorweg laufenden Schafherde. Zu ihrer Rechten vor den Überresten einer bewachsenen antiken Säulenarchitektur ein weiterer Mann mit zwei rötlichen Hähnen und zwei Ziegen. Auf der linken Seite ragt ein großer Baum mit grün-braunen Blättern in das Bild. Im Hintergrund die weite bergige Landschaft unter dramatisch bewölktem Himmel. Darstellung mit starken Hell-Dunkel-Kontrasten, bei der besonders das Gesicht und der nackte Brustbereich der Frau sowie das weiße Fell der Kuh und der Schafe sowie kleine Partien im Himmel betont werden.
