Johann Jakob Frey,
1813 Basel – 1865 Frascati
Der Maler war Sohn und Schüler des Samuel Frey, ging 1835 nach Rom, später nach Neapel und Sizilien. Er gehörte zu den Gründern des Deutschen Künstlervereins, beauftragt auch von Fürstlichkeiten wie Friedrich Wilhelm IV (1795 - 1861).BLICK ÜBER ROM Öl auf Leinwand.

Im Vordergrund an der Balustrade ein junges römisches Paar sowie auf dem Weg eine Mutter mit ihrem Kind, dahinter in der Ferne der Kampanile einer frühchristlichen Kirche.
