Magnificent, rare classic hand mirror in hammered gold, partially set with antique cushion-cut diamonds, totalling ca. 2.6 ct, and each flanked by smaller emeralds. A finely crafted caryatid handle holding the central mirror framed by historical motifs: three-dimensional putti, high relief mascarons and dogs’ heads, volutes, acanthus scrollwork and fruit ornaments. The handle’s terminal is crafted with a lapis lazuli ball and a large mounting loop. In original leather lined and gold embossed case with red interior.

According to the consignor, the mirror was part of the bequest of the egyptian king Farouk.
