Idealisierende, fantasievolle Ansicht einer mediterranen Stadt mit einem parallel zur Längsseite laufenden, breiten Fluss, überbrückt durch steinerne Bögen mit auf der Brücke stehendem, hohem Turm sowie einer schlanken Brückensäule mit einer Heiligenfigur. Im Vordergrund anlegende Lastschiffe. Das Ufer besetzt mit mehreren Arbeitern oder Männern bei der Arbeitsruhe. Links ein höherstehender Mann in langem Umhang mit roter Mütze, die weiter unten sitzenden anredend. Die Gestalt beleuchtet vor dem Hintergrund eines verschatteten, ansteigenden Felsens. Rechts hinten Blick auf das sonnig beschienene Weichbild der Stadt mit Flachbauten und Türmen.
