Das Gemälde gibt thematisch die Anbetung der Engel wieder, die hier vor dem Jesuskind knien, welches auf einem Laken liegt, das von der Mutter Maria gehalten wird. Im Hintergrund stehend der heilige Josef mit einer brennenden Kerze in der Hand, weiter rechts Ochse und Esel, dahinter fantasievoll aufgefasste Architekturdetails mit Treppe und Mauerbögen. Die Beleuchtung bühnenhaft von steil oben über den Kopf des Josef hinweg auf das Kind, mit Lichtreflexen, die wiederum auf die umgebenden Figuren zurückwirken. Rest. (1061133) (2) (11)
