Die Szenen transferiert in Grisaille aus Gemäldevorbildern von französischen Malern wie Gérard, Blondel, Prud’hon. Die Tapetenserie wurde, wie auch weitere Zyklen, von der Manufaktur Dufour, Paris ab 1815 produziert und findet sich in etlichen herrschaftlichen Schlössern und Häusern. Von der Manufaktur wurden 1872, 1905, 1923, 1931 ff. Wiederholungen hergestellt.

Highly decorative classicist Papiers peint wall decoration, comprising a complete series of twelve wall-sized scenes from the wallpaper manufacturer Dufour, Paris
Wallpaper board, each laid on canvas.
Height: ca. 182 cm each.
Width: min. 54 cm - max. 160 cm, according to the size of the depictions.
With the subjects:
“Psyche’s parents visit the Delphic Oracle” – “The abduction of Psyche by Zephyr” – “The bath of Psyche” – “Psyche showing her sisters her jewellery” – “Psyche overhears the sleeping Cupid and looks at him by candlelight” – “Psyche recognes her mistake” – “Psyche leaving Cupid” – “Psyche and the fisherman” – “Psyche gives Venus a water jug” – “Psyche visits the underworld” – “Reconciliation of Psyche and Venus” – “Psyche emerges from the underworld” – “Union of Psyche and Cupid”. The scenes are transferred in grisaille from paintings by French painters such as Gérard, Blondel, Prud’hon. Like other cycles, the wallpaper series was produced by the Dufour factory in Paris from 1815 and can be found in several stately castles and villas. The factory produced the following wallpapers in 1872, 1905, 1923, 1931ff. Repetitions produced.
