Der Canal Grande, perspektivisch nach rechts fluchtend, wird in teilweise summarischer Weise wiedergegeben. Der Hauptblick gilt der Kirche Santa Maria della Salute, entworfen von Baldessare Longhena. Sie beeindruckt durch ihren hohen Zentralbau sowie die großen Voluten, die der Maler eindrucksvoll wiedergibt und dabei besonderen Wert auf die vielschichtige Licht- und Schattenwirkung legt. Im Vordergrund erklimmen einige Staffagefiguren die steilen Kirchentreppen und schaffen somit einen anschaulichen Größenvergleich. Der Canal Grande wird von einigen Gondeln und Booten befahren, die das gemächliche Treiben der Stadt zur Schau stellen. (1450214) (13)
