Die Köpfe kameenartig in stark hochgewölbtem Oval, im Hochrelief gearbeitet, jeweils umzogen von einem in Messing getriebenen vergoldeten Lorbeerkranz, welcher der Antreppung des Ovalsteines aufliegt. Am Unterrand jeweils querovale Bezeichnungsschilder der einzelnen römischen Cäsaren: Nero, Claudius, Nerva, Trajano, Vespasian sowie Augustus. Schöner dunkelroter Porphyr, mit hellen Einsprenkelungen. An der Rückseite je gemeißelte Vertiefung zur Aufhängung. (11909614) (11)
A set of six carved porphyry Emperor heads
28 x 19 cm each.
Cameo-style heads in oval high-relief, each surrounded by a wrought and gilt brass laurel wreath. At the lower margin they each carry oval nameplates of the respective Roman Emperors: Nero, Claudius, Nerva, Trajan, Vespasian and Augustus. Beautiful, dark red porphyry with light specks.
