Mit zahlreichen Schlittschuhläufern sowie Häusern links am Ufer, am Horizont Türme und Windmühlen in diesigem Licht, unter hohem bewegtem Wolkenhimmel. Im Zentrum der Genredarstellung ein von einem Pferd gezogener Schlitten, daneben Eisgolf spielende Bauern und Bürger.
Der Maler war der jüngste Sohn des Frans Hals d. Ä. (1580–1666) aus dessen zweiter Ehe. Seine Werke werden gelegentlich mit denen des Nicolaes Molenaer (um 1630 – um 1676) verwechselt. Als Schüler seines Vater widmete er sich jedoch weit mehr als dieser auch dem Thema der Landschaft und der Genredarstellung. (11904810) (11)

67 x 85 cm.
With numerous ice skaters and houses along the lakeshore on the left. Towers and windmills can be made out on the horizon in the hazy light and a tall cloudy sky. A genre scene of a horse-drawn sleigh is depicted at the centre with farmers and citizens playing ice golf beside it.
