In einer Sumpflandschaft steht ein zentraler, reich verästelter Baum an welchem ein aufgeschlagenes Notenbuch lehnt. Zahlreiche Vögel umspielen dieses Ensemble und führen dem Betrachter ein überreiches und in der Natur so nie anzutreffendes ornitologisches Wunder vor Augen. Ein Strauss ist neben einer Dronte ebenso zu finden, sowie ein Papagei neben Perlhühnern oder einem Pfau. Bouttats war für seine Paradieslandschaften bekannt, welchen er stets eine große Vielzahl von Vögeln zuordnete.

An open music book is leaning on a richly knotted tree depicted at the centre of a marshland. Numerous birds surround the scene. Bouttats was famous for his paradise landscapes in which he always depicted a large variety of birds. Inventory number on the reverse.
