Stromatolithen sind blättrige nierenförmige bis schalenförmige Kalkgebilde, deren Kalk durch fadenförmige Gebilde von Meeresorganismen ausgestaltet wird. Als ältestes Fossil der Erde zeigt dieser Stromatolith eine raue, gleichmäßig rostfarbene Oberfläche mit konzentrischen Ringen der Kalkkrusten. Montiert auf Metallständer mit quadratischer Basis.
