Beigegeben:

CAVALRY BATTLE AGAINST BLAZING RED SKY
Oil on canvas.
72 x 113 cm.
The painter became, above all, known as an excellent portraitist but also as the creator of high-quality battle scenes painted in his own style. One of these is held at the Sonnino collection in Venice, Museo Correr that compares quite well with the painting offered in this lot. E. Martini (1964, pp. 240) emphasized the importance of the battle scene subject in the artist’s oeuvre after other authors (Tiecozze, 1818 and De Boni, 1840) had previously described the artist as an exceptionally elegant painter of history paintings.
Enclosed:
A copy of the print with an article about the painting by Giancarlo Sestieri, Italian and foreign masters of the XVII and XVIII Century, 1992, p. 664 illustrated.
